The last tomatoes

I felt a little sad as I opened the last can of crushed tomatoes this evening for a lentil-sweet potato stew. I mean it’s only April, and there are probably six months go to before we can replenish the supply.

One thing to make more of — much, much more of — when the next canning season rolls around.

Far too sad for pictures.

  1. I learned that last year … you can’t have too many tomato products (pizza sauce is another good one, great for when you make homemade pizza on the grill.)
    That Ball’s canning book has tons of tomato recipes too.
